This mixed media piece is 24 x 48 and wraps around the entire edge of the canvas at the bottom of the piece. The artwork features collage elements from Brandon Joseph Baker’s street art and cutouts of Roger, the skull. The figure gazing back at the viewer rises from a sunflower while beneath her a version of herself casts a golden spell the drifts past another model to the base of a golden Roger. Skulls, duplicity, halos, crowns and sunflowers are recurrent symbolic tropes in Brandon Joseph Baker’s work and he photographs all of these pieces separately and joins them together to create an implied narrative that is only hinted at with the title.
