“Dear Leader’s Cheerleaders” is a collection of satirical paintings of the women and the propaganda synonymous with the Trump administration and MAGA movement. Jane Fisher’s (@janefisher1608) portraits are unflinchingly honest depictions of the women who surround and support Donald Trump, complete with gilded gold frames and tongue in cheek name plates beneath to offer context to the subject’s willing participation in the corruption circus. Dana Dekalb’s (@dekalbdana) paintings cast Trump Era women in Soviet and Chinese Communist Era propaganda posters with direct translations of the original phrasing to English. While Marie Van Elder's (@mvanelder) small-scale paintings explore a more optimistic resistance to the madness of King Donald and his court. The artists complete the installation experience at Bane Gallery (@banegallery) with a replica of the tacky Oval Office mantle, a MAGA dumpster fire beneath and the watchful gaze of ICE agents from above. Black ribbons adorn the works to signify the women who are no longer contributing to Dear Leader’s Cheerleading needs.
